Perdue’s history

Perdue is a village about 60 kilometres west of Saskatoon on Highway 14. It incorporated as a village on July 15, 1909, and it is the seat of the surrounding Rural Municipality of Perdue No. 346.

The Perdue Hotel, built in the early 1900s, still stands on Main Street. Today the village has a credit union, a grocery and liquor store, a post office, an insurance broker and a daycare, with Full Line Ag and Great Plains Co-Op along the highway and the Perdue Oasis golf course and restaurant west of town.

The Perdue Agricultural Society puts on Extreme Redneck Days on Canada Day, with mud drag races, a Li'l Buckaroo Rodeo, fireworks and more. It also hosts the annual Perdue Fair on the last weekend of July, with 4H events, a slow-pitch tournament, exhibits and a parade through the village to the fairgrounds. When the Perdue Arena burned down in 2015, the community began fundraising for a new one soon afterward. Perdue School, home of the Steelers, serves students from kindergarten to Grade 12.
